● 編輯筆記｜臺灣之於紐約、之於世界，看似渺小，但衡量的尺度從不該只有一種。真正的尺度，是我們如何定義自己，如何走進世界，並保有自我。當越來越多臺灣創作者走進紐約、踏上世界舞台，也有更多人帶著臺灣的文化與性格，在海外長期發展。深入其中，你會發現：臺灣從不微小——它靈活、堅韌、富有創造力，積極呈現自身的樣貌。本期專題從臺灣與紐約的對望出發，《500輯》首次以雙語製作，並將於8月3日在紐約中央公園現場發送，讓這份刊物的編輯與設計，化為一次跨文化的連線行動。

Taiwan may seem small beside New York or the rest of the world—but scale is never measured in just one way. The real scale lies in how we define ourselves, how we engage with the world, and how we stay true to who we are. More and more creators from Taiwan are stepping onto global stages, bringing with them a spirit that is agile, resilient, and creative—actively expressing who they are. This bilingual issue of 500 Times begins with a dialogue between Taiwan and New York, and will be distributed in Central Park on August 3—a cross-cultural gesture shaped through editorial and design.

Taiwanese Waves｜嚴敏（Mia）在紐約中央公園夏日音樂祭舉辦臺灣之夜「Taiwanese Waves」已經第十年。這波從音樂出發的浪潮，原是想上岸，把臺灣音樂帶往世界；如今，經過姿態各異的暗礁歷練，浪已成花，通往各方，在紐約形成一股探索的力量。2025年8月3日，以「Celebrate Friendship」為主題，臺灣的舞蹈、音樂、飲食與多元文化族群，將融合並以創新的姿態在中央公園登場。Taiwanese Waves成為一種凝聚的精神，慶祝每一刻源於臺灣的創造，在紐約在世界各地輕盈卻強大地綻放。

Now in its tenth year, Taiwanese Waves, curated by Mia Yen-Min, has become a vibrant part of New York’s SummerStage at Central Park. What began as a mission to bring Taiwanese music to the world has grown through challenges into a flourishing cultural force. On August 3, 2025, under the theme Celebrate Friendship, Taiwan’s dance, music, food, and multicultural voices will gather in a fresh, creative celebration. Taiwanese Waves embodies the spirit of connection, celebrating the many forms of Taiwanese creativity as they bloom lightly yet powerfully across New York and beyond.

封面藝術家｜陳楷恩 ＠kaynkenchen

生於1996年，現居臺北， 廣泛搜羅臺灣地景、草根人文日常，以大量的素材對內對外催眠產出畸形邏輯，將詭異的觀察解讀成亞熱帶島國的超現實表現，進而轉換成服裝和視覺手法，試圖模糊疆界，訴說低小劣（高大上的相反）的本土變幻物語。

Cover Artist｜Kayn Chen (@kaynkenchen)

Born in 1996 and based in Taipei, Kayn Chen draws extensively from Taiwan’s landscapes and the everyday lives of its grassroots communities. Using a rich archive of materials, he constructs a hypnotic and distorted logic, at once inward-looking and outward-facing. His uncanny observations are transformed into surreal expressions of life on this subtropical island, which he channels through fashion and visual design.

版面設計｜洪彰聯 ＠hungchanglien

生於1981年，現居臺北。他以在字體編排與大膽版面設計上的美學實踐而廣受關注，作品常結合細緻而迷人的視覺元素，並經常在印刷、加工與紙材運用上進行各種實驗性嘗試。現為AGI國際平面設計聯盟成員之一。

Layout Design｜ Âng Tsiong Liân

Born in 1981 and based in Taipei. Âng Tsiong Liân has gained widespread recognition for his aesthetic approach to typography and bold layout design, often combining intricate and captivating visual elements. His work frequently explores experimental techniques in printing, finishing, and the use of paper-based materials. He is currently a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).
