ABC Talk
Travel English: Going Camping
Part A
Carrie and Stephen are walking through the forest.
Carrie: It’s so nice out here. I really like being in the woods.
Stephen: Yeah. The city is too noisy. I had to get away from those barking dogs and honking horns.
Carrie: I know what you mean. I needed to get some fresh air.
Stephen: I’ve never been camping before. I’m really excited about it.
Carrie: This is a very good spot. Should we set up our tent here?
Stephen: It’s OK, but I wanted to camp next to a waterfall or a pond.
Carrie: That’s fine. We can find another place. We have all day.
Part B
They are in another part of the forest.
Stephen: I think that this spot is perfect. Look, there’s a lake right there!
Carrie: Well, it’s not bad. But the sign says that we can’t barbecue.
Stephen: We don’t need to barbecue! We can go pick berries. I see some on those bushes. Let’s try a few.
Carrie: Stephen, you can’t eat those berries. They’ll probably poison you.
Stephen: Really? I didn’t know that.
Carrie: It’s OK. I brought some pork and beef that we can barbecue, but we have to keep looking.
Stephen: Great! Let’s go.
