本書為全英文撰寫之《簡明傳染病學》,簡明實用,為各醫學大學多皆採用之教本,而公共衛生學系、護理學系、醫院管理學系,以及有關之衛生行政人員、醫護從業人員亦列為必要之參考書籍。全書主要介紹傳染病的基本概念,包括傳染病的分類、傳染病的發生、疾病特徵、環境-致病原-宿主的三角關係、疾病傳播模式、流行病學及防治方法,並說明公共衛生的重要性、自我保健、世界各地傳染病、世界衛生組織的防治計畫介紹。
基於傳染病之流行除了地方性、全國性之外,更具有國際性,而傳染病之防治也往往成為國際性的議題。作者王凱淞教授整理多年來的授課講義,並參考國內外相關單位之疫情報導、研究報告、疾病分類等資料編撰而成,以系統性部位介紹傳染性疾病,將同一系統的傳染病編排再一起,讓讀者能比較各種系統的傳染病,並融會貫通。
